A simple planning calculator, built for US-based NRIs. Answer five questions, see one clear table, and understand exactly where you stand - no financial jargon.
Most calculators throw a wall of numbers at you and call it "planning." We would rather give you one honest table you can actually read in under a minute, and then talk through what it means on a real call - free, no obligation, and no product pitch on the first conversation.
This calculator is built specifically for US-based NRIs and uses a simplified USD-to-INR estimate throughout. If you live in the UK, UAE, Canada, Australia, Singapore, or anywhere else, your real numbers will look different - exchange rates, tax treatment, and typical costs all vary by country. The maths below will not be accurate for you, but we still work with NRI families worldwide - just scroll to the form at the bottom, tell us where you are based, and we will take it from there.
Just five numbers. Nothing here is shared or saved until you choose to send it to us.
Based on the "Balanced" style unless you chose otherwise. These are illustrative estimates to help you think, not promises.

The gold line shows how your investments could grow if you invest the estimated yearly amount. The green dashed line is roughly what you'd need at retirement. Illustrative only.
It depends on the monthly lifestyle you want in India, how many years until retirement, and what you already have invested. Working backward from your target monthly budget, and adjusting for inflation, tends to give a more realistic number than picking a random investment amount.
For a quick estimate, a round number like $1 = Rs.100 is easy to work with, though the real market rate moves daily and is usually somewhat different. For any actual transfer or investment decision, always check the live rate.
This depends on your residential status, the type of investment, how long you hold it, and the India-USA tax treaty (DTAA). There is no single answer that applies to everyone - it is worth reviewing with a professional familiar with cross-border NRI taxation.
A commonly used range is 3.5% to 5% of your retirement corpus per year. This is a planning assumption used to estimate how large a corpus you'd need, not a guaranteed income figure.
Everyday costs in India tend to rise over time, so a monthly budget that feels comfortable today will likely cost more by the time you retire. Retirement calculations typically build in an inflation assumption, commonly estimated in the 5-7% range for India, to account for this.
This calculator gives you a starting point. A real conversation - about your actual investments, your tax residency, and your goals - is where a proper plan gets built.
